A powerful earthquake struck central Colombia, causing extensive damage in several cities. The most shocking images came from the heart of Bogotá, where a multi-story apartment building partially collapsed, precariously leaning against a neighboring building. Emergency services confirmed multiple fatalities and dozens injured, with many more believed to be trapped under the rubble.
The earthquake measured 6.3 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter near Villavicencio, about 80 kilometers southeast of the capital. The tremors struck around 10:47 a.m. local time, lasting nearly 45 seconds and felt as far away as Medellín and Cali.

The image, taken from the scene, shows debris scattered on the road below the severely collapsed red brick residential building. Balconies have fallen, air conditioners hang dangerously from cracked walls, and reinforcing steel is visibly broken. Rescue teams and firefighters are coordinating at the front, with emergency vehicles and heavy machinery behind them, as search and rescue operations continue amidst the dust and chaos.
